Description
General Statement of Duties:
Performs, skilled mechanical duties, in the repair and maintenance of equipment. Performs first line supervision in the absence of the Senior Mechanic.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Section Chief or Senior Mechanic
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: First line supervision in the absence of the Senior Mechanic
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Repair and preventive maintenance on all machinery and equipment
- May be involved in welding and metal fitting
- Cleaning and painting of equipment, buildings, etc.
- Tire changing and repair
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of daily work
- Assist in training of new employees and seeing that CWA policies and procedures are adhered to
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to repair and maintain all equipment
- Ability to work in harmony with other CWA employees
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Must have commercial driver's license or the ability to obtain one
- Must show initiative and job performance to advance to next job classification
EDUCATION: High School diploma or G.E.D. College/technical training in related field desired
EXPERIENCE: Five years of mechanic experience and one year of supervisory experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to perform strenuous work over long periods of time and lift objects up to 100 pounds. Must be physically fit and capable of working in inclement weather.
