Position Summary
The Master Electrician Supervisor will be based at CWA’s Lynchburg Pump Station in Baytown, Texas. This role oversees the operation and maintenance of all electrical systems at CWA pump stations. These systems include medium-voltage (4160 V) and low-voltage (480/240/120 V) breakers, relays, motors (up to 4000 HP), variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, harmonic filters, and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems through preventive maintenance (PM), including inspection, cleaning, and testing of transformers, switchgear, relays, motors, starters, control panels, VFDs, and ancillary equipment
- Support the implementation and oversight of CWA’s electrical safety program
- Conduct condition assessments on transformers, switchgear, and harmonic filters (capacitors and reactors)
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical system faults, referencing electrical schematics, manuals, and diagrams
- Perform insulation resistance testing, high-potential testing, and transformer turns ratio tests
- Assist with planning and executing electrical system upgrades and replacements
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts to ensure system reliability
- Provide support for instrumentation and control systems, including pressure switches and gauges, control valves, RTDs, flowmeters, PLCs, level sensors, and solar-powered remote terminal units
- Prepare condition reports and identify early signs of deterioration in electrical insulation, breakers, panels, and transformers
- Assist with developing scopes of work for specialized electrical contractors performing VFD, transformer, or PLC testing and repairs
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of electricians, including journeymen, technicians, and VFD specialists
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship and current Master Electrician license
- Minimum of 15 years of medium-voltage electrical experience in operations and maintenance
- Experience with:
- Breakers up to 3000 Amp
- Rockwell and GE medium-voltage VFDs
- Medium-voltage synchronous motors up to 4000 HP
- Medium-voltage soft starters
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in supervising and scheduling electrical teams
- Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels—from field staff to senior leadership
- Proven successful training and mentoring of individual electricians Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-demand environments
- Proficient with computers and digital tools
- Experience managing specialized contractors
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate: $60–$70
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5x the base hourly rate
